Encouraged by the Twitter translation
into Basque Language (Euskera), in August, I brought out the idea: we
want in our Twitter the Trending Topic list for Euskal
Herria.(Original article in Euskera).
To carry out the idea a signature
petition has been launched through the Actl.ly. The request should be
addressed to Dick Costolo(@dickc) as Lander Arbelaitz did it toget the translation.
In short, what
for do we need the Trending Topic list in Euskal Herria?
- For talking points to have a greater presence among users here, without getting lost in other lists of trends.
- To boost our presence in the media, traditional media are increasingly taking into account the Trending Topic.
- To enhance the Basque Language(Euskera) prestige and also show us in technology along with other languages.
If
you agree with the idea, doing click here,
you can join the application: “We would like to have Basque
Country´s Trending Topic”. If you prefer to get notified more
about the subject here you canfind out more answers.
The
local sphere in the world
Twitter
is successful in reaching people who we would never have been able to
know, but also is useful to communicate with our people closer. For
that reason the request of having a local Trending Topic will not be
something isolated that starts only in Euskal Herria.Twitter has not
yet implemented all the mechanisms to respond to local needs, but
that is about to arrive. Twitter is a further technological tool to
apply the vision Think
globally, act localy effectively.The
140 characters go beyond the network. They serve to link communities.
Which one do you feel closer to you? I have no doubt that they will
join that way, they are going to promote the local path. Sooner than
later, Bilbao, the most populous city in Euskal Herria, will have its
own Trending Topic like Madrid or Glasgow. All cities, nations,
communities and even neighbourhoods will have their list. In general
we can say that all those communities united around an interest will
have their space. It will not be easy for a stateless nation to have
its own Trending Topic. In the queue are waiting even states like
Belgium & Switzerland. We also have to ask for our turn!
Translating
Twitter we have proved that we are, that the Basque Country exists.
We are in Wikipedia, we are in Google, we are in Microsoft Office, we
are in Mozilla firefox, we are in Facebook...according to data from
Umap,
we are 15.000 people writing in Basque Language in Twitter. By 2013
we will have thedomain ".eus".
We must believe it ourselves and make them believe it; BAGARA (WE ARE). On The Internet there are no borders, we will be what we will
want to be. Why should they refuse to a Trending Topic in Euskal
Herria?
Our
opinion, our information, our debates, our experiences, and why not,
our drivels as well; we want them to be visible. For all of this, a
little step can be given tosupport the Euskal Herria´s listoftrends.
